Helping a friend....

Today I helped a friend make 40 baby shower thank you cards for her son's girlfriend.  It's her first grand-daughter, so you can imagine how excited she is.  The colors are lime green and peach (very non-traditional) and the theme is butterflies, so this is what we came up with.

Linda saw this card on SCS and wanted to do something similar.  I had never seen that Cuttlebug folder before, but I really like it.  We went on an expedition and found this one at Michael's hanging behind something it shouldn't have been in a section it shouldn't have been, so we figured it was meant to be.  The paper is Bazzill(sp?) lime green, SU whisper white, and K&Co. DSP.  The inside is stamped with Thank You from the SU Many Thanks set and one of the many leftover butterflies is adhered in the bottom corner.

A lot of work, but I think the mom-to-be will be really happy with them.

Tomorrow, I get to start on 30 invitations to my BIL's surprise 40th birthday party.  My SIL wants them by next Friday.....she just asked for them Thursday.  Nothing like a little notice.  I'll show you what I come up with.

'Til next time......

More Verve butterflies....

Happy Saturday!  I just spent an hour and a half getting a new cell phone because mine died.  I am sorry to see it go because I really liked it.  The guy seemed really surprised at how long ago I could've updated my phone, but why do that when I was really happy with what I had??!?!  Isn't it crazy how long it takes to buy a new phone??  That's probably why I don't change phones very often.....it takes forever and is too much like car shopping.  Now that I've had a chance to play with the new one, I'm liking it.

Anyway, here is another card.  You're shocked, right, that I'm posting again so soon?  I have pictures of a ton of cards; I just have to put them on here.

It's the Verve Fluttering By set again.  Can you tell it's one of my favorites?  The butterflies are stamped in blue bayou on so saffron DSP; the center one is cut out and only adhered in the middle so the wings are "flying."  I used the swiss dot EF and did some layering.  Easy peasy.

Til next time........

Butterfly Thanks

This is one of my all time favorite cards that actually wasn't a case of someone else's.  It's much prettier IRL.  I used Verve's Fluttering By and the thanks is also Verve, but I don't remember the name of the set.  I think the blue, brown and green go very well together......I don't know if you can tell, but the little dots in the DSP are exactly the same blue as the scallop circle.

I hope you will sign up for our swap.  It is always tons of fun!  Good food, good fun, good friends, and great cards....who could ask for more??

Have a great weekend!

Hey Ladies:

I just posted the thread for the August 27, 2011 Bel Air Shoebox Swap.  There is no theme for this swap but would appreciate it if you could bring old cards or card fronts for donations to the local hospital as the Girl Scout Troop is still making cards.

Here is the link: (you might have to cut and past the url to view)

With Great Sympathy.....

I was asked to make memorial invitations for Maria, my co-worker.  Her Mom, Alice Basile, recently passed away and she wanted celebrate her life with a get together of close friends and family.  She gave me permission to share this invite with you, the picture is priceless.

New passion.... coloring

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am not into coloring.  But I have to admit that I got hooked on using copic marker and now I want to do nothing but color.  Here are some samples of what I have done. I did not complete the card yet, just colored.  Thought I would share.

Old stamps ... new coloring fun
I was experimenting with the shading technique.

Stamp Camp June 5

Eastern Blooms will be retiring from the present catty.  I used chocolate chip and blushing bride ink. I threw a splash of chocolate chip ribbon.  You can not see it but I used gold smooch and my famous sakura clear pen.  I really like the color combo.

Fabulous Florets is a really nice set. I used Certainly celery ink and paper along with tangerine tango ink and paper.  Splash of certainly celery grosgain ribbon.  I put 4 punch outs of the new triple layer punch.

Simple friendship is a fav of mine. This set will be retired from the present catty too.  I have really used this set alot.  I used a little bit of rich razzleberry ink and paper.  I did use some pretty in pink paper.  The colors really go well together. I did a card like this some months ago using different colors.

Flower fest could become a fav of mine.  I also used Swirls and Curls verses which is a hostess set from the Summer Mini catty.  I used Daffodil delight paper and ink along with black and olive.  This technique is the crayon resistance.  I have to give credit to someone on splitcoast as I cased the card.
Simply said will be retiring from the current catty.  I used so saffron to stamp the pointed flowers then stamped on top of that with tangerine tango using the same stamp.  It is like doing two step stamping.  I love the colors in this card.

Girl Scout Follow up

Just to keep you informed.... the girls got together and made 125 cards tonight.  They have 150 to go til they reach their 1000.  The girls are starting to get tired but realize this project will be very beneficial for the patients in the hosptial.  I did not take pictures tonight.... Verve Trees

Hi there -

Andrea told me I was neglecting our blog, and she is right.  Here is a card I made a while ago, but it's one of my favorites, so I'm hoarding it.  Do you do that.....make a card and then don't send it out because you like it too much?  Or is it just me??

This was a really simple card to make.  The sky is bashful blue DSP, the hills are certainly celery DSP with old olive sponging on the top edges, and the trees are a single stamp from Verve, but I don't know what it's actual name is.  I colored them with certainly celery ink and a blender pen.  The sentiment comes from Verve's Fluttering By set.
I'll try to post more often.  I hope all is well with you!

Girl Scout Follow up

I thought I would let you know the progress of Girl Scouts and their Silver Project. OK ... they have stalled and I am trying to get them back on task.  They have 275 cards to go with a lot of paper work to boot.... they need to have this done soon or lose the opportunity of getting this award.   So think of me as I try to get them motivated.... Will keep you posted on their progress.

Stampin'UP! retired list of stamps and accessories......

OMG.... Stampin UP put out the list of what is being retired in the 2010 - 2011 book... they are getting rid of all of the 12 x 12 paper, lots of ribbons and great stamps.  This time of year makes me sad when they clean house.... but July is just around the corner and I am excited to see what they will offer......
