Some new cards.....

Hi All -

I hope this finds you well.  First, I want to say how sorry Andrea and I were to have to cancel Ocean City, but life really does get in the way of fun sometimes!  When we planned the November date, I didn't know that my husband and I were going to be building a house....with a completion date of the first week in November.  Plus with various health issues, it just wasn't going to work out.  I will definitely miss it!  I even had some of my projects and things all ready to go.

Anyway, here are some Thanksgiving cards I've made to send to our families:

This one is a case of the most amazing Wendy Weixler (Wendybell) on SCS.  Mine is a little different but basically the same.  I sponged the background with so saffron, pumpkin pie and tangerine tango.  Those colors were also used to stamp the leaves.  The borders of the leaves and the words (Verve) were stamped in early espresso.  To get the effect on the leaves, I stamped the solid image in so saffron, then sponged on pumpkin pie, tangerine tango, and cranberry crisp (one of my favorite blasts from the past), held the stamp at arm's length and spritzed it very lightly with water then stamped it, holding it down to give the ink a chance to sink into the paper.

This one is an amalgam of several different cards I've seen.  The oval was cut using a nestibility then sponged with creamy caramel and soft suede while still in the die.  The words (Verve) are stamped in soft suede.  The gourd, pumpkin and leaves are stamped with brown staz-on on watercolor paper and then colored using ink pads and a blender pen.

I'm pretty sure this is my very own creation.  That hardly ever happens, so that makes me especially proud of this one.  I used apothecary framelits for the layers and the piercing pack on the bigger layer.  The smaller die is sponged with so saffron and pumpkin pie.  The words are stamped in soft suede.  The leaves are leftovers from the two cards above.  The ribbon is also pumpkin pie.

This one is a case from a couple different people, one of them being Jackie Jerke on SCS.  The leaves and acorns aren't at all hard to cut out, just a little time consuming and boring, and I made two of this card.  I used so saffron, pumpkin pie, old olive, cranberry crisp and early espresso.  The button is from a big jar my grandmother had and is tied with hemp.
My husband's brother's kids love, love, love!! angry birds.  When I saw this card on France Martin's blog, I knew I had to make it for them!

How stinkin' cute is that??  I know they'll love it!  Thanks, France, for the recipe.

This last card will be sent as a thank you to whoever hosts us for Thanksgiving.  We certainly aren't going to host the holiday since we will only have lived in the new house for a couple of weeks.  This one is also thanks to France.  If you haven't checked out her blog, you should.  She has fantastic tutorials, great ideas and is just fun to listen to.  I look forward to her blog each morning.

The little acorn guy (you just have to smile!) is made using the ornament punch.  I just love him!

So, that's it for now.  I'll be back in a little bit with some gift tag projects that were supposed to be demonstrated in OC to show you.

Take care -
Lisa
